China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) is monitoring US warships that passed through the Taiwan Strait, Reuters reported, citing Chinese media reports.
According to state broadcaster CCTV, a US destroyer and an oceanographic research ship crossed the Taiwan Strait between February 10 and 12.
The US's behavior is sending the wrong signals and increasing security risks, said Colonel Li Si, a spokesman for the PLA's Eastern Theater Command. Li added that troops in the area are "on high alert at all times and are determined to protect national sovereignty and security, as well as regional peace and stability." This is the first US naval operation in the sensitive strait since President Donald Trump took office. The US military has not yet commented on the incident. North Korea has condemned US President Donald Trump's proposal to relocate Palestinians from Gaza as absurd and accused Washington of blackmail, Reuters reported, citing BTA. The proposal crushes the Palestinians' fragile hopes for security and peace, according to a statement released by North Korean state media KCNA, without mentioning Trump by name. "The world is currently seething and seething as if because of the bombastic declaration of the US", KCTA also wrote.
The comment was directed at Trump's statement that the US intends to withdraw the Palestinians from Gaza and turn the war-ravaged territory into the "Riviera of the Middle East".
KCTA also criticized the US government for Trump's ambitions for the US to take control of the Panama Canal and Greenland and change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to "American Gulf". "The US should come to terms with its anachronistic illusion and immediately stop violating the dignity and sovereignty of other countries and peoples," the North Korean media wrote, also calling the US authorities "blackmailers."
During his first term, Trump held unprecedented summits with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. The US president recently said he would reach out to Kim again, but North Korean officials have made little comment on Trump since his return to the White House.
