Brussels meeting: Ukraine, allies discuss arms deliveries - 1

Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said that timely arms deliveries and joint projects with European partners are on the agenda of the meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine's Defense in Brussels, reports "Reuters", quoted by News.bg.

The meeting will be chaired by British Secretary of State for Defense John Healy. The group of about 50 nations, formed after the start of the Russian invasion in 2022. and known as the "Ramstein" Group, was previously led by the United States.

In addition to the need to accelerate the supply of air defense, aviation and ammunition, Umerov stressed his intention to discuss increasing the supply of weapons made in Europe and expanding Ukrainian production.

The newly appointed US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, who will also participate in the meeting, said he would insist that European allies increase their defense spending.

"The European continent deserves to be free from all aggression, but those in the neighborhood must invest the most in this individual and collective defense," Hegseth said.

He had earlier announced that the administration of President Donald Trump would not send US troops to Ukraine.
