Azerbaijan has again provided Ukraine with humanitarian aid consisting of electrical equipment, the Azerbaijani news agency AZERTAC reported, BTA reports.
One million dollars were allocated by order of President Ilham Aliyev, and the first batch of aid was sent on February 7.
Alasgar Hasanov, head of a department at the Azerbaijani Ministry of Energy, informed that the shipment includes electrical cables, wires and transformers. According to him, the delivery was carried out at the request of Ukraine and is aimed at restoring stable electricity supply in the war-affected areas.
Ukrainian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Yuriy Khusev expressed gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev, the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan for the assistance provided, which is vital for the restoration of Ukraine's energy system.
"We highly appreciate Azerbaijan's support and will never forget it. We are currently working with our Azerbaijani partners on a new project in Irpin, which will be supported by Azerbaijan and launched this year. It will include an art school, a children's sports school and other social infrastructure facilities. Irpin is already a twin city of Lachin, and its mayor visited Azerbaijan last year. We hope for in-depth interregional cooperation between our two countries," the diplomat noted.
The total value of Azerbaijani humanitarian and reconstruction assistance to Ukraine has already exceeded $40 million. By 2025, nearly 134 transformers and transformer substations, about 70 generators and over 3.4 million meters of cables and wires had been sent to the country.
