South Carolina authorities plan to execute a prisoner by shooting on March 7 for the first time in 15 years, the Associated Press reported.
Brad Sigman, 67, chose this method himself, preferring execution by shooting over the electric chair or lethal injection. Since 1967, only three people have been executed in the US in this way. All three cases were in the state of Utah, the last in 2010.
Sigmon was convicted of beating his ex-girlfriend's parents to death with a baseball bat in 2001. He then kidnapped his companion, but she managed to escape.
