Russia carried out the largest attack on Ukraine in the entire war last night, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky noted, quoted by Ukrinform. Tomorrow is the third anniversary of the Russian invasion of the neighboring country.
Last night, Russia attacked Ukraine with 267 drones, Zelensky said in a post on the social network "Facebook".
"Every day, our people resist air terror. On the eve of the third anniversary of the war, Russia attacked Ukraine with 267 attack drones. This is the largest attack since Iranian drones began hitting Ukrainian cities and villages. "In total, almost 1,150 attack drones, over 1,400 guided bombs and 35 missiles of various types were used throughout the week," the Ukrainian head of state wrote on Facebook.
He thanked everyone who repels such attacks every day - aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units and mobile fire units of the Air Force and the Defense Forces. Zelensky also thanked those who are at the scene of the damage and saving people from the consequences of the shelling, referring to emergency response teams and police officers.
The Ukrainian president called for everything possible to be done for a just peace in Ukraine, which can happen "with the unity of all Ukraine's partners - Europe, the US and all who want lasting peace."
As Ukrinform reported, the Russians attacked Ukraine last night with Iranian-made "Shahed" drones and various types of "simulator" drones. Ukrainian forces shot down 138 Russian "Shahed" drones and other types of unmanned aerial vehicles, with 119 drones disappearing from radar.
Russian troops also fired a ballistic missile at the Ukrainian Sumy region, the acting mayor of the region, Artyom Kobzar, reported on Telegram. According to him, the strike was carried out outside a populated area.
