Negotiations between Russia and the US on the issue of "irritants" in their bilateral relations are planned for the end of next week, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov announced today, quoted by TASS.
His words were also disseminated by Reuters.
The meeting will take place at the level of heads of departments in the foreign ministries of both countries, he specified.
"We are open to contacts with the American side, in particular on the issue of irritants in our bilateral relations. "We expect real progress after this meeting," Ryabkov said.
The United States and Russia agreed this week at a meeting in Saudi Arabia between delegations from the two countries, led by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, to begin steps toward ending Russia's war in Ukraine, which will mark three years since it began tomorrow.
