Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed Turkey-France relations, as well as important regional and global issues, over the phone with French President Emmanuel Macron. The conversation was confirmed last night by the Turkish presidency on its X social media account, BTA reports.

During the call, Erdogan emphasized Turkey's efforts to end the Russian invasion of Ukraine and establish a just and lasting peace. He renewed the offer for Turkey to host peace talks, stating that the country has been a successful mediator in various conflicts and can contribute to restoring peace.

Turkey, as the only country that has repeatedly brought warring parties around the negotiating table, can play an important role in the peace talks process, including as a host, Erdogan said.

He expressed a strong opinion against the proposal to evict Palestinians to Egypt, Jordan or another third country, calling it unacceptable. The said proposal was part of a plan by former US President Donald Trump, which proposed transforming Gaza into an international resort after the eviction of Palestinians. This plan was rejected by Arab countries, including Egypt and Jordan, which stated their intention to work on an alternative.

The Turkish presidency reported that Erdogan and Macron, as leaders of NATO allies, agreed to work in a more coordinated manner in the new era of international relations.
