Polish and allied aircraft were activated early this morning to ensure the safety of Polish airspace after Russia launched air strikes targeting western Ukraine. This was reported by the operational command of the Polish Armed Forces, quoted by "Reuters".
"The steps taken are aimed at ensuring security in the regions bordering the risk zones," the command specified on the social network X.
All of Ukraine was on alert for an air attack that night after the Ukrainian Air Force warned of Russian missile attacks.
Missile debris has fallen on Polish territory more than once since the outbreak of the war.
In the first such incident in November 2022, an erroneously launched Ukrainian missile hit the Polish village of Przewodów. This raised fears that the war in Ukraine would spill over the border.
In April 2023, a military site was discovered in a forest near the village of Zamozk, near the city of Bydgoszcz. It was later reported that it was a Russian missile.
