In the fall of 2021, Ukrainian military intelligence made public information about Russia's plans to invade Ukraine, said Kirill Budanov, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of Ukraine, in an interview with the Ukrinform agency, BTA reports.
Budanov said this, commenting on a statement by Ukrainian General Serhiy Naev that on the eve of the war he had not seen any official information or document about when and from where Russia would launch its invasion.
„Around October 2021 I gave an interview in the US, in which I revealed the scheme by which things would develop, what forces would be deployed and in which areas the attack would begin. This information had already become public knowledge by that time. Look, if we make something public, it means that this information has definitely already circulated everywhere by then,” Budanov said.
Earlier, General Serhiy Naev said in an interview with the publication “Ukrainska Pravda“ that the Ukrainian army did not have a document stating that Russia would begin its invasion on February 24, 2022.
In November 2021, in an interview with the publication “Military Times“ Budanov outlined in detail Russia’s plans to invade Ukraine in January or February 2022, Ukrinform reports.
