Over 3,000 people have died in Myanmar after a powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck the country six days ago, reports Agence France-Presse, BTA reports.
A spokesman for the ruling military junta confirmed that the death toll had reached 3,085. In addition, 340 people were still missing and 4,715 were injured.
Humanitarian teams from 17 countries have already arrived in Myanmar, and the aid delivered amounts to nearly 1,000 tons of supplies and equipment.
“We continue search and rescue operations and express our deep gratitude to the international community and medical teams for their hard work,“ the government spokesman said.
