In the context of trade wars in the world, Russia and China can set a new record in trade turnover and their relations can become even stronger, said Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko.
The diplomat supported the statement of the Special Representative of the President of Russia for Relations with International Organizations for Sustainable Development Boris Titov that the tariff policy of US President Donald Trump will strengthen economic ties between Russia and China.
Speaking about the prospects for the development of relations between Moscow and Beijing, Rudenko noted that “cooperation is developing in various spheres and areas, so it is difficult to single out any specific area of interaction“.
“But nevertheless, I am confident that our prospects are very good and we will overcome another "record level in its trade turnover," the deputy head of the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized.
At the end of January, during a video conference with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that trade turnover between Russia and China, despite the negative external impact, grew by 7% in the first 11 months of 2024 to $220-245 billion. The head of the Russian state noted that China is the main trading partner of the Russian Federation, and Russia ranks fifth in the list of countries - trading partners of China.
According to the General Administration of Customs of Beijing, the volume of Sino-Russian trade in 2024 increased by 1.9% compared to 2023 and again reached a record $244.81 billion. Imports of goods from Russia to China for 12 months remained practically unchanged and amounted to $129.32 billion. Exports from China to Russia increased by 4.1% to $115.49 billion.
