Russia: No deal with Trump on Ukraine - 1

The Kremlin said today that there are no clear outlines of a deal between the United States and Russia on Ukraine, but there is a political will to reach an agreement in this area, Reuters reported, BTA reported.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that contacts with the United States are positive and useful, but refused to specify a timeframe for reaching a peace agreement.

Ukraine and some of its European allies say that Russia does not seriously want to end the war and accuse the Kremlin of dragging out negotiations with the United States. Peskov added that the Russian president's schedule does not include a phone call with US President Donald Trump in the next few days, TASS reported.

The Kremlin spokesman noted that he needs to specify the time of the end of the 30-day moratorium on attacks on energy infrastructure, answering a question from TASS. This moratorium has been in effect since March 18.

According to Peskov's assessment, against the backdrop of Russia and the US's peace efforts, European countries support the Kiev regime in its desire to continue the war. "We must clearly understand that intensive work is currently underway between Moscow and Washington. And it is being carried out in the name of peace. And against this background, European countries continue to work in the name of war and in every way declare their intention to continue supporting Ukraine and the Kiev regime in its quest to continue the war“.

The Kremlin spokesman stressed that sovereign European countries should assess the statements of the head of the EU diplomatic service Kaia Kallas, who threatens with “consequences” for participation in the Victory Parade in Moscow on May 9, TASS reported. “It is not our job to assess these threats. The assessment of these threats should be given to those sovereign countries that are threatened by it“, Peskov said.

He also noted that the Kremlin pays attention to Kallas's sharp rhetoric and does not consider it correct. “We pay attention to her very, very sharp statements. We do not consider them correct”. Peskov also expressed confidence that there are countries in Europe that do not support Kallas' aggressive rhetoric.
