The Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed 38 Russian combat drones in a large-scale air attack carried out on the night of April 22. Contact with another 16 decoy drones was lost without causing damage, the Ukrainian Air Force Command reported, quoted by "Ukrinform", BTA reports.
„On the night of April 22, 2025 (starting at 9:00 p.m. on April 21), the enemy launched a total of 54 combat drones and decoy drones from territories in Russia – Millerovo, Kursk, Bryansk and Primorsko-Akhtarsk - as well as from Chauda in occupied Crimea. By 09:00 it was confirmed that 38 combat drones of the “Shahed“ type and other models had been shot down over the eastern, northern, southern and central parts of the country,“ the official statement said.
The signal of 16 decoy drones was lost by the tracking systems, and it was not established that they caused any damage. However, damage was recorded in the Odessa and Kiev regions as a result of the attack.
Ukrainian fighter jets, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare means and mobile fire groups of the defense forces participated in repelling the attack.
The Air Force reported that at 08:00 on the same day, a new wave of Russian drone attacks began, during which combat drones entered the northern part of the country through the Sumy region.
