Border control between Albania and Kosovo is abolished for their citizens from today until September 30 under an agreement between the two countries, Kosovo and Albanian media reported, quoted by BTA.
Based on this agreement, citizens of both countries cross the border through the Morina – Vermica border crossing (between the cities of Kukes in Albania and Prizren in Kosovo – ed. note) in an accelerated procedure for a total of nine months of the year, notes the Albanian news portal Alfapress.
The agreement, which provides for simplified procedures for crossing the border for cars with Kosovo and Albanian license plates and which was reached in the spring of last year, has come back into force with the aim of ensuring faster and unrestricted movement. It was reached due to a high number of citizens from Kosovo, who visit Albania mainly to spend their summer holidays there.
Except for the period May 1 - September 30, under the agreement, border control between the two countries will not be carried out from November 1 - February 28, recalls the Kosovo Radio and Television. During this period of facilitated border crossing, the personal documents of citizens of the two countries are not checked, Alfapress also writes.
