Diplomat Julie Davis will take over the leadership of the US Embassy in Ukraine as chargé d'affaires. This was announced by State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce to the Associated Press, News.bg reports.
“US President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio have decided that Julie Davis will work in Kiev“, Bruce said at a briefing.
The official website of the embassy in Kiev states that Davis will lead the diplomatic mission until the White House makes a decision on a new ambassador.
The appointment takes effect on May 5. Davis previously served as the U.S. ambassador to Cyprus, and before that, she held various diplomatic posts, including as special envoy to Belarus.
We recall that in April, the State Department confirmed the withdrawal of the current ambassador to Ukraine, Bridget Brink, appointed by the previous American administration.
