New requirements for the treatment of congenital coagulopathy in outpatient care are in force - 1

From January 1, new requirements of the NHIF for the treatment of congenital coagulopathy in outpatient care came into force.

The new amended requirements have eliminated a long-standing injustice in relation to elderly patients who need prophylactic therapy to maintain good health.

For years, requirements were in force that distinguished between patients who were “entitled“ to prophylaxis – those up to 18 years of age and “adult patients“ – over 18 years of age for whom this was not guaranteed in the NHIF regulation.

Some young patients experienced the problems arising with the coming of age and the attitude of some representatives of the medical profession.

After many years of efforts and joint work of doctors, the patient community and all interested parties, this discriminatory measure was repealed.

The new requirements, published in the State Gazette No. 99 of November 22, 2024, effective from January 1, 2025, do not make a difference in relation to the patient's age when determining the most appropriate therapy for outpatient treatment.
