Long-term cyberattacks against various organizations around the world lasted an average of 253 days in 2024, Kaspersky Lab told TASS. The company considers attacks lasting more than a month to be long-term.
The response of security specialists to such a cyberattack of average duration takes over 2 days, namely 50 hours, the company notes. “This demonstrates the difficulty of dealing with the consequences of events of such a scale“, Kaspersky Lab admitted.
A report by the Kaspersky GERT team also shows that last year 35% of incidents were long-term cyberattacks.
According to the report, mainly long-term attacks in 2024 started with exploits in public applications, hacks of contractors (supply chain attacks) and subsequent attacks on suppliers and use of compromised accounts.
