The Kazakhstan Railway Company announced the introduction of a temporary ban on the transportation of wheat, lentils and flaxseed by rail from the republic to Russia, with a number of exceptions for transit transport, in accordance with the decision of the CIS Railway Transport Council.

"The Directorate of the Railway Transport Council of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CSRT) at the request of JSC "Russian Railways" introduced a temporary conventional ban on the transportation of certain goods from Kazakhstan to Russia. The restriction applies to wheat, lentils and flaxseed and is valid for all shipments from stations in Kazakhstan to all stations of Russian Railways, the company's official website says.

The report notes that the ban does not affect transit transport through the Novorossiysk and Novosibirsk stations. “The restrictions do not apply to the transit of grain through these stations, provided that phytosanitary certificates have been issued for the country of final destination and direct transshipment of grain from railcars to the holds of ships at PJSC Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port.“ and JSC "Sea Port of St. Petersburg", the company reported.
