Ukrainian energy experts have called the idea of the US administration of Donald Trump to take control of a nuclear power plant in Ukraine unfeasible, writes the New York Times in its material.
According to the sources of the publication, in accordance with Ukrainian law, nuclear power plants cannot be privatized. Several experts were also skeptical about the plan, but noted that the United States could help improve the plant management system.
There is no agreement between Kiev and Washington on which plants can be discussed. Earlier, Washington, after a telephone conversation between Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky, said that the US could help Ukraine with the operation of its nuclear power plants. The document states that US ownership of these plants would be the best protection for this infrastructure. In all statements, the US uses the term "nuclear power plants" in the plural. Zelensky, in turn, claims that this applies only to the Zaporizhia NPP, located in the Zaporizhia region on the territory of Russia.
