Global recession risk rises to 60% - 1

US President Donald Trump's tariff plan has raised the risk of a global recession from 40% to 60%, the Business Insider portal reported, citing JPMorgan analysts' estimates.

“Disruptive US policies were recognized as the biggest risk to the global outlook during the year. The latest news reinforces our concerns, as US trade policy turns out to be less favorable for business than we expected”, writes a JPMorgan analysis.

If the US continues to follow this course, it “will most likely lead the US and, possibly, the global economy into recession this year“. At the same time, economists note that a recession is not inevitable if policies are adjusted.

US President Donald Trump announced on April 2 the introduction of tariffs on products from 185 countries and territories. Russia is not on this list.

Universal tariffs of 10% will come into effect on April 5, individual tariffs - on April 9. In addition, the US administration introduced a 25% tariff on all imported cars from April 3. Trump declared a state of emergency in the country due to the economic situation.
