The Prosecutor's Office's demands for our immunities are a threat to GERB as well. This was stated to Nova TV by the co-chairman of "Continuing the Change" Kiril Petkov.
„I just spoke to the wife of Lachezar Stavrev, who was arrested and is currently behind bars. What makes me very angry... and this time they really made me angry is that while I am a politician and I know what kind of battle I have entered - they want my immunity and I have given it. Lacho is a normal person - Assen Vassilev's driver, lives at „Lyulin” 8, his daughter is 15 years old. And he is currently behind bars for one single reason - to hurt us. These people don't even think that these are human lives and destinies. They put them in detention centers and don't think”. This is how he commented on the detention of Asen Vassilev's associate, whom the court left in detention on Saturday.
According to him, he is 100 percent sure that Stavrev is innocent. “He is really one of us. Unfortunately, I didn't know Petya Bankova that well. If I knew her – I would probably be even more categorical in her defense, What we saw in her case is that she is a mother of two children, she has cancer… And in my opinion, they pushed her against the wall. And while Borisov talks about his scary moments in 24 hours… this woman has been in detention for 6 months and they have broken her into making statements that are not true. And for Lacho... the accusation is absurd. He is not in a position where he can order appointments or dismissals in customs. You cannot have a crime in office, since you are not in this position. And how can Assen Vassilev's driver enter into collusion? Fabricated testimony. What became clear is that the prosecutor who raised these charges is the one who said that he had no problem with Goranov and Borisov in the "Skull" case and stopped him from entering the court. Despite "Magnitsky" and the fact that the American government saw big problems in this," Petkov explained.
He also commented on the question of whether the visit of Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov to the US was a coincidence against the background of the "demonstrative actions of the prosecutor's office against people from the Bulgarian People's Party" and whether it creates the feeling that these are measures that are supported by one of Bulgaria's Western partners. “This cunning man hid while he ordered these ostentatious actions. He knows very well that he is actually carrying out Peevski's will. I am absolutely sure of this”, Petkov emphasized.
And he added: "Just look at how everything is happening. We submitted a bill on the Judiciary, which should terminate his powers. Then we elect Ms. Kiselova, who said that this is her priority. And two days later, three actions by the Prosecutor's Office begin. I was the first, then they went against Lena Borislavova and finally Lacho".
"I read that half of the actions of the Prosecutor's Office with immunities - are a threat to GERB as well. We are not afraid. There is nothing to hide from. We know that the accusations are fabricated. But these actions are also a threat against GERB, because with the declaration we said: "GERB should divorce Delyan Peevski". I would even say that this is a divorce agreement in a family where there is domestic violence," emphasized the PP co-chairman.
"Everything depends on whether Borisov will be in this marriage with Peevski and whether he has the strength and courage to get out of this marriage. Regarding the hand extended to Lena Borislavova, she answered him very appropriately that it is not her immunity that is important. That the law on the Judiciary and the removal of Peevski's baton is important for all Bulgarians. Don't play at being cavaliers. So Borisov, instead of acting like a cavalier, should sign the declaration and show that he is not afraid. Borisov knows that we are at a crossroads - either we become Georgia, or we will be a normal European country. The question is whether he will stay in this marriage and whether he has the courage to leave it," the former prime minister explained.
