The texts of the draft amendments to the Judiciary Act are entering the parliament on second reading, BNT reported.
The Legal Committee voted on the texts on second reading, but adopted a small part of the amendments to the Act.
The part that restricts the Supreme Judicial Council from electing a prosecutor general when the council members' mandates have expired was not adopted. Therefore, the procedure may be started again if the election on January 16 fails.
The meeting of the Supreme Judicial Council to elect a prosecutor general is scheduled for tomorrow. Borislav Sarafov is the only candidate for the position. The procedure may be suspended after the committee members agreed in the final provisions that the initiated procedures that have not been concluded by presidential decree should be terminated.
