Sofia Airport was closed briefly due to an incident with an aircraft from the 16th Air Base. This was announced by the Ministry of Defense.
During a training flight, a RS-12 aircraft with registration number 020 from the 16th Air Base suffered a tire burst on the main landing gear upon landing at Sofia Airport at 19:15.
The crew was not injured and no other damage was caused to the aircraft.
Sofia Airport was closed for several minutes.
Thanks to the coordinated actions of the technical teams from the air base, Sofia Airport and Air Traffic Control, the aircraft was pulled from the runway and flights resumed.
