For several months, we have been warning that Peevski's face wears a Euro-Atlantic mask that is empty of content. Today, once again, we saw that this is a fact and he must immediately return the medal he received from the Verkhovna Rada. This was commented by the deputy chairman of the DPS and former MP Valentin Tonchev to journalists in parliament on behalf of the parliamentary group of "Democracy, Rights and Freedoms" - DPS.
What Peevski is doing is purely and simply trading in the national interest for fear of new "Magnitsky" sanctions, he commented. "You cannot just a few days ago take a position in defense of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and today literally do a triple sheepskin coat or spin like a baker's shovel," Tonchev added. According to him, this is a very dangerous phenomenon and Bulgaria should not succumb to these suggestions.
Earlier today, the chairman of the parliamentary group of "DPS-New Beginning" Delyan Peevski commented on the position around which the participants united in yesterday's meeting of the Security Council under the Prime Minister. Can you have a neutral position and always be spineless - there is no such position, he told journalists on the sidelines of the parliament. We will be firmly against any kind of support, all money should go to Bulgarian citizens, everything should be inside for Bulgaria, Peevski replied to a question about aid for Ukraine.
Our position on the war in Ukraine must be forged within the framework of the European Council, where Prime Minister Zhelyazkov is making significant efforts to ensure that Bulgaria has a worthy position at the negotiating table, said Valentin Tonchev on behalf of the PG of "Democracy, Rights and Freedoms"-DPS. Peace is without alternative, but it cannot be achieved without Ukraine at the table and without the mediatory role of the EU, he added.
Regarding the topic of appointments in the second and third echelons of power, Valentin Tonchev commented that absolutely all topics are discussed in the Joint Governance Council. But we have stated from the very beginning that we will not give unsolicited support, let alone be cornered in the face of a fait accompli to support one or another candidate, he said. The MRF participates in the ruling majority, we expect to bear joint responsibility for all appointments that will occur in key regulators in the state, Tonchev added.
We are in this government to dismantle the "Peevski" model, he said. Peevski has appointments in all power resources of the state, in all ministries, regional directorates, forestry, we insist that these people be released, Tonchev said.
In response to a question, he said that from "Democracy, Rights and Freedoms" - the MRF never proposed Çetin Kazak for chairman of the Commission for Protection of Competition and called for a good look at the documents submitted to the parliament's registry. According to the documents published on the parliament's website, Çetin Kazak was proposed as a member of the CPC by Dzhevdet Chakarov and deputies from "Democracy, Rights and Freedoms".
