The majority of Bulgarians (63%) mark and/or celebrate March 8. The holiday is respected to a greater extent by women – nearly 8 out of 10 of them give a positive answer. Nearly two-thirds of women (65%) claim that they feel more special on the holiday. This is shown by data from a survey by “Trend“ commissioned by “24 Chasa“, dedicated to attitudes towards International Women's Day.
43% of Bulgarians believe that March 8 is reduced only to a festive atmosphere. Three out of ten people (30%) are of the opinion that in addition to the festive spirit, the date also has important social significance. This opinion is expressed more often by women. For 18%, the holiday is outdated and not important.
The dominant opinion is that March 8 is a holiday for all women – this is indicated by 62% of the respondents. For 20%, it is a mother's holiday. According to 8%, the date is a socialist holiday, and 5% associate it most closely with the struggle for women's rights.
On the question of whether March 8 is a commercial or non-commercial holiday, Bulgarians are almost evenly distributed – approximately 4 out of 10 people take each of the two positions.
