A specialized action to counter smuggling and fuel tax evasion has been underway since this morning. The actions are taking place across the entire country. Several dozen fuel trading points are being checked. This was announced by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov at the beginning of today's government meeting.
The coordination of the action is led by the Interdepartmental Coordination Center for Countering Smuggling. Several departments are participating in the action - the Ministry of Interior, the National Revenue Agency, “Customs“ and the Metrology Agency.
Regarding the budget, Prime Minister Zhelyazkov commented that the first quarter is coming to an end, and there is still no adopted budget, which poses a very complex task for the revenue agencies. “I believe that the Ministry of Finance, the National Revenue Agency and “Customs“ will be at the top, with the support of other state bodies, in order to implement the government's ambitious revenue program“, said the Prime Minister.
The Minister of Agriculture and Food Georgi Tahov reported that the Law on the Agri-Food Chain is ready and public discussions on it will begin tomorrow, including with interested industry organizations. The deadline set by the Prime Minister for the new law is March 15 and is expected to be met. Prime Minister Zhelyazkov once again insisted that the law be discussed with both retail chains and consumer organizations, seeking the best approach for law enforcement.
The measures that were taken in the RIA and the toll administration continue. Rosen Zhelyazkov specified that he discussed with the Minister of Regional Development Ivan Ivanov the acceleration of the introduction of the average speed control system.
