The commander of the Third Air Base “Graf Ignatievo“ Brigadier General Nikolay Rusev becomes the commander of the Air Force (Air Force).
This is clear from today's decision of the Council of Ministers, at the proposal of the Minister of Defense Atanas Zapryanov. The cabinet proposes that the president issue a decree on the reshuffle, effective from April 1.
The government also proposes that the 54-year-old br. gen. Rusev to be awarded the senior officer rank of Major General.
As of the same date, the current commander of the Air Force, Major General Dimitar Petrov, is released from military service, as he has acquired the right to a pension.
The deputy commander of the base, Colonel Metodi Orlov, will be appointed as the temporary commander of the "Graf Ignatievo" air base, effective April 1. He will hold the position until a permanent one is appointed, but not longer than one year.
