The monument to Hristo Botev in the center of Vratsa was dismantled to be restored.
The nine-meter statue will be transported to a specialized workshop in Sofia. The latest examination of the statue showed that the thinning of the metal in some places is risky for the monument.
It was created 61 years ago and its author is the sculptor Vladimir Ginovski. 700 thousand leva is the cost of restoring the memorial complex. They are provided by the state budget and donations from Vratsa residents. The marble panels around the statue will also be restored.
The renovation is expected to be completed by Botev Day - June 2.
