A serious traffic accident in Sofia, "Studentski Grad" district on "Acad. Stefan Mladenov" Blvd.. A 14-year-old, who was driving a motorbike, was injured. Diana Rusinova from the European Center for Transport Policies reported this on Facebook.
"A car driver committed a gross violation by making an illegal U-turn at a double continuous line, thereby causing a serious traffic accident. As a result of the accident, a 14-year-old unlicensed driver driving an electric motorbike was injured. The child has broken limbs," Rusinova reports.
"This incident once again raises the issue of the frequent cases in which young people with electric motorbikes drive at high speed throughout Sofia, often between cars, which poses a serious danger to themselves and other road users. A month ago, the European Center for Transport Policies submitted an official signal to the Directorate of Internal Affairs, warning about this problem, but so far there has been no effective and concrete response from the institutions," the expert adds.
"It is also important to note that many of these young people are unlicensed drivers, since driving such electric motorbikes requires at least category A1. We call on the responsible authorities to take immediate measures and remind all drivers to follow the rules of the road in order to avoid such serious accidents," Rusinova also writes.
