There is a huge interest in investing in Bulgaria. We have all the resources, we have the opportunities, I finally expect the government to take up these important issues, because the Bulgarian economy is waiting to be seriously promoted.
This is another forum at which Bulgaria confirms its position as a respected and sought-after neighbor, partner and ally.
This was told to journalists by President Rumen Radev, who took part in the tenth edition of the Delphic Economic Forum in Delphi, Greece.
„We have all the resources, we have the opportunities, I finally expect the government to take up these important issues, because the Bulgarian economy is waiting to be seriously promoted. Therefore, prerequisites must be created. The Bulgarian parliament must really work, so that it can create the necessary legal conditions and frameworks, so that the executive branch can work in this direction,“ said the president, quoted by BTA.
“We are not utilizing these enormous opportunities that we have at all“, the head of state believes.
Rumen Radev indicated that he had a number of meetings with representatives of various institutions and businesses within the framework of the forum.
“This is another forum at which Bulgaria is affirming its position as a respected and sought-after neighbor, partner and ally. This is very important in an increasingly contested world. Bulgaria is increasingly establishing itself as a factor of stability in the Balkans. In recent years, we have become strategic partners with Greece, and all our joint projects contribute to the security, stability and prosperity of the region. Here, Bulgaria's role is truly valued“, pointed out President Radev.
“The topics of the forum are quite broad – from geopolitics to economics, investments and artificial intelligence. The most important thing I said is that Bulgaria has always been and will continue to be an integral part of Europe. For centuries, we have contributed to the civilizational development of Europe. With Bulgarian culture, with a huge contribution in various fields, and this will remain so in the future“, summed up the head of state.
Rumen Radev also commented on the US decision to postpone some of the high tariffs. “It is very important that Europe maintains its unity regarding these tariffs. I assume you heard yesterday the position of the new Chancellor of Germany, Friedrich Merz, who clearly stated that Europe will remain united in its response. He welcomes precisely the fact that the tariffs are being postponed for 90 days. More important is what Chancellor Merz said, that work is being done to have zero tariffs between the US and Europe. This is the best outcome. I think reason will prevail, because everyone loses from this policy“, commented the head of state.
Within the framework of the forum, President Rumen Radev held a meeting with his Greek counterpart, President Konstantinos Thassoulas. Yesterday, the two heads of state gave speeches to participants in the Delphi Economic Forum, which brings together heads of state and government, representatives of the business and non-governmental sectors, to discuss the prospects for sustainable development and competitiveness.
President Rumen Radev also held a conversation with the Secretary-General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, Matthias Kormann.
