"The „TEREM-Khan Krum” plant has a future, but not in the same volumes." This was stated by the Minister of Defense Atanas Zapryanov to journalists.
He, together with the Deputy Minister of Defense Adelina Nikolova and the Executive Director of „TEREM-HOLDING” are at the plant, where they met with the management and the protesting employees. The dissatisfaction among the workers is due to unpaid salaries.
At the calls of the leader of „DPS-New Beginning” to change the management of the plant, the minister replied that this is not within his powers, but within those of the holding.
„We will discuss, we will see the overall condition of the holding. We should not make changes before that, because there are several companies. This is the only one that has been at a loss for 20 years. I inherit it and it is up to me to deal with accumulated problems and obligations. We must find solutions. No matter how many people stay, they should work profitably, be well paid and satisfied. They work on a market principle”, Zapryanov noted.
Before that, the minister got into an argument with the protesting employees. „They think that we can give them high salaries, without having financial income from activity. There can be no salaries if there is no activity and income”, he asked.
„They have been repairing 4 tanks from Veliko Tarnovo for four months. They have the equipment to repair Soviet equipment, but they don't have spare parts," the Minister of Defense pointed out.
“And if we send them armored equipment, they can't buy parts from Belarus and Russia, they won't even sign a contract. The problems are complex. We as an army cannot load the capacity of this plant, on the other hand, there are no external orders, there are no spare parts from a third party. We work with Bulgarian companies that still have Soviet equipment”, he pointed out.
”In order for it to function in the long term, it must be restructured”, believes Zapryanov.
Defense Minister Atanas Zapryanov, together with Deputy Defense Minister Adelina Nikolova and the executive director of “Terem Holding“ EAD Kalin Dimitrov, is at the “Terem-Khan Krum“ plant in Targovishte, the ministry announced. There he met with the plant's management and representatives of the protesting employees.
The purpose of the visit is for the minister to personally familiarize himself in detail with the state of the enterprise, with the financial and production problems. This will provide an opportunity to present complete, accurate and detailed information to the National Assembly, the ministry added.
The resignation of the manager of “Terem - Khan Krum” in Targovishte, Gen. Nikolay Karaivanov, has been requested, Kalin Dimitrov, executive director of “Terem Holding” EAD, announced yesterday during the protest organized by the workers and employees of the enterprise. The company is the sole owner of the capital of "Terem-Khan Krum".
Nearly 150 employees of the Targovishte plant protested at the roundabout near the plant. Traffic on the main Sofia-Varna road remained open. "We don't want to hinder anyone, but we insist on our own", workers commented to BTA. The protest is due to the systematic delay in the payment of wages - the workers here have not received salaries for January and February 2025. They want more clarity about the future of the plant.
