NATO continues to be the main pillar of our security. This was stated by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov on the occasion of the 21st anniversary of Bulgaria's accession to the Alliance.
In a position of the Council of Ministers, published on Facebook, he points out that NATO is the strongest military-political alliance in the world, which is a guarantor of the security, stability and freedom of its citizens. In his words in 2004 Bulgaria has made its strategic choice by joining the North Atlantic Treaty Organization together with six other Eastern European countries.
The Prime Minister emphasizes that this was a historic moment that paved the way for Bulgaria to sustainable development, protection of national interests and its sustainable presence as a reliable ally in collective defense. According to him, in today's complex and dynamic international environment, the Alliance continues to be a fundamental pillar of our security.
Bulgaria, as an active and responsible member, contributes to the strengthening of the Union and to the building of modern, combat-ready armed forces that are able to respond to new threats to global security, emphasizes Zhelyazkov. He expressed confidence that NATO will emerge from the current challenges stronger, more united and more ready to protect the security of its citizens.
The Prime Minister believes that Bulgaria's future is strongly tied to stability, solidarity and long-term partnership with our allies. I am convinced that investments in defense, human potential and technology will ensure peace, security and prosperity for future generations, adds Zhelyazkov.
