On the 10th I will drink coffee in Greece, if there is a fence - we will cut it. This was stated by Todor Batkov-son, a businessman and politician, in connection with the tension on the Bulgarian-Greek border at the Rudozem-Xanthi border checkpoint, which has not yet been opened. This time it has been waiting for almost 30 years.
„We give Greece water with which they produce electricity, which they sell to us, irrigate and produce fruits and vegetables, which they sell to us, and we endure the humiliation of not opening the border“, Batkov also commented.
„The Greeks are kings of excuses. They have confirmed that they are ready to open the first 8 km to the first village. They can open the road tomorrow,” he added.
According to him, they have also blocked the forest roads in the region with earth, making it impossible to cross.
Batkov also said that secret negotiations are underway for the waters from the Arda River.
“Where will we give water to Greece from, given that in the Smolyan region people pay the most expensive water“, the politician added.
According to him, on July 9 last year the reparations expired. He claims that the National Electricity Company (NEK) signed a contract for several months for the provision of water from the Arda River.
“We are treading water, we are thirsty, there are no roads, no water, no jobs. Once again, the Rhodopes will become a victim of national irresponsibility“, Todor Batkov Jr. concluded.
