No national sanction measures have been imposed against Russia by the Bulgarian side outside the EU restrictive measures. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Georg Georgiev in a written response to the PP-DB MP Bozhidar Bozhankov, reported "Nova TV".

The Minister notes that Bulgaria participates directly in all political and legal discussions on the imposition of EU sanctions.
In order to optimally protect our national interests from possible negative consequences of imposed EU sanctions, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs coordinates each newly submitted proposal with all competent national institutions, he adds.
Georgiev explains that the decisions and regulations for the imposition and termination of EU restrictive measures are adopted by the Council of the Union unanimously and are binding and directly applicable to all countries. member states.
Bulgaria cannot independently cancel the implementation of measures imposed by the bloc, he points out.
The minister points out that the duration of the restrictive measures under the respective regime is specified in the legal acts under it and is usually 12 months, and in some cases - six months.
We recall that a few days ago, the European High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaia Kallas stated that it is possible for the EU to approve more sanctions against Russia in May, news.bg commented.
