A Roadmap to Improve the Pension System in Bulgaria within 6 months should be developed, with the commitment of the MLSP, the Ministry of Finance, the National Social Insurance Institution, the Financial Supervision Commission and the National Revenue Agency. Such a draft resolution has been submitted to the National Assembly by MPs from the three ruling parties, led by the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Social Committee Denitsa Sacheva, reports the Bulgarian National Radio.
On her Facebook profile, she wrote that adequate measures are achieved with reasonable decisions and expert, well-considered policies. "We cannot afford to bend the pension model any further".
In the reasons for the adoption of the decision, the deputies point out that last year 4 key documents on the state of the pension system in our country were already prepared by the Ministry of Social Affairs, the National Social Security Institute, the Economic and Social Council and a sociological survey. All of them point out that it is necessary to achieve financial stability of the system due to demographic changes and their impact on pension costs. A consensus has also been reached to increase the adequacy of pensions and guarantee a dignified lifestyle for the elderly.
The deputies recall that the analyses recommend revising the parameters of the insurance contributions and the retirement age. They point out that there is also a coincidence in the measures proposed by the various institutions, such as respecting the principle of "contribution – rights" and to remove social assistance expenses from the State Social Security budget.
It is proposed that the deadline for developing the Roadmap for pension changes be half a year and then the proposals be discussed in the parliamentary committees on labor and social policy and on budget and finance.
