A doctor hit an 18-year-old patient, then refused to examine him at the Emergency Center in Gotse Delchev, the police in Blagoevgrad reported.
They specify that on April 23, at around 07:47, a signal was received from the Federal Emergency Medical Service about a dispute between an 18-year-old young man from the village of Garmen and a medical employee.
The conflict arose after the doctor refused to examine the young man and referred him to the Gotse Delchev Hospital. In the heat of the argument, the medic struck the 18-year-old patient in the face with his hand.
Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in the case.
An urgent, urgent meeting should be held on April 30, the National Trade Union "Zashchita" proposes in a letter to Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov, Minister of Health Silvi Kirilov and Minister of Interior Daniel Mitov. This was announced by the union.
In their letter from "Zashchita" they draw attention to another report about the "another shocking daily life" of a Bulgarian doctor from the emergency department in the town of Gotse Delchev. In his report, surgeon Dr. Fidoshev, with 40 years of professional practice, informed us that on April 23, 2025. during work, he became another victim of arrogant assault - verbally and physically, by patients, without any provocation on his part, the letter from "Protection" says.
"The peak of the violation and insult of my human pride and dignity, the most cruel insult to my personality came after two police officers took action to push me into the police car," says Dr. Fidoshev, quoted in the letter. The union adds that an emergency signal, to which the doctor responded, saved him from being "forcefully pushed" into the police car.
Once again, we insist on your competent actions, measures, decisions, incl. and legislative, in order to stop the cynical nonsense of healthcare workers being humiliated, insulted, slandered, threatened, beaten with hands and any improvised objects while they are performing their basic duties and their calling to care for, treat and save human lives. Otherwise, we draw your attention to the fact that healthcare workers are already considering holding a hunger strike under your management windows under the slogan "Better to die of hunger than to die of fighting!", the letter from the "Protection" union also says.
The problems of emergency care should become a priority for the government when adopting the 2025 budget, demanded in January in a declaration by the "Protection" union at the Emergency Medical Care Center in Sofia. Another incident of aggression against an Emergency Service employee raises again questions that we have repeatedly raised, the union writes. Earlier, the Emergency Medical Care Center reported that an Emergency Service security guard was seriously injured after being punched and kicked by a man.
