Assoc. Prof. Stoycho Stoychev: Rumen Radev is doing a great job for the Americans - 1

„Yes, Bulgaria“ will have two chairmen, the party decided at a national conference. Ivaylo Mirchev and Bozhidar Bozhanov will take the place of Hristo Ivanov. The topic was commented on by political analyst Ruzha Raicheva and political scientist Assoc. Prof. Stoycho Stoychev in the show “Face to Face” on BTV.

„The election of two chairmen of “Yes, Bulgaria“ somewhat betrays disunity, hesitation about where to go. The huge number of votes for Hristo Ivanov as a member of their national council shows that he continues to be the informal leader of this formation“, commented Raicheva.

“The most interesting thing about “Yes, Bulgaria“ is their orientation – towards Europe, not America. The Euro-Atlantic alliance and its collapse determine these camps that are forming. It is interesting where Borisov and Peevski, who somehow got back together again, will go and whether President Rumen Radev is also participating in this battle for America's sympathy“, she commented.

“The question is whether Rumen Radev can take advantage and overtake Borisov and Peevski in the race for American sympathy“, pointed out Raicheva.

“From day one of his election, President Rumen Radev has actually been doing a wonderful job for the Americans. He is stealing a pro-Russian vote and literally throwing it into the gutter“, commented Stoycho Stoychev.

“He is not doing anything with it. Up until now, this pro-Russian vote could have been instrumentalized quite radically over these nine years“, he added.

“Radev's term expires next year and he must decide what he will do with himself. The people around him have decided it - they want him to enter politics. Whether he will do it is another question. The experience of previous presidents so far is that they cannot transfer their popularity in a personal capacity to a party subject and turn it into a successful formula“, is Stoychev's opinion.
