Boyko Borisov: The head of the Air Force should be fired because of Rumen Radev's intrigues about the F-16 - 1

GERB leader Boyko Borisov made sharp remarks to President Rumen Radev. "He says something every day that has no meaning", the GERB leader told journalists in Valencia. Boyko Borisov is heading the Bulgarian delegation at the European People's Party (EPP) congress in the Spanish city, BTA specified.

"Radev whispered to the journalists who were with him that the F-16 was broken and not flying, so that they could ask Zapryanov. They asked him. And I told Zapryanov that the head of the Air Force should be fired today, if what Radev whispered is true," Borisov also said. "How will he take a broken plane for 100 million dollars. Today, Rumen Radev's personal friend and head of the Air Force should be fired, if it is true and if Radev whispered to your colleagues," the GERB leader repeated.

We recall that on March 26, President and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Rumen Radev appointed Brigadier General Nikolay Rusev as Commander of the Air Force by his decree and awarded him the senior officer rank of "Major General".

A reaction also came from President Rumen Radev, who participated in the presentation of the "National Map of Intellectual Property" at the UNWE.

„We paid dearly, we waited long, we will maintain it dearly, but this was Boyko Borisov's choice. Instead of today washing his hands of the pilots and the leadership of the Ministry of Defense, who work every day and wonder how to compensate for political negligence and indiscretions, it would be better for him to loosen his purse strings more and for his government to provide funds so that this aircraft, which has wonderful combat qualities, can be maintained in combat readiness and fly, said President Rumen Radev in response to Boyko Borisov.

The second F-16 fighter jet out of a total of 8 that our country acquired with the conclusion of the first contract in 2019, took off for Bulgaria from the United States, announced Defense Minister Atanas Zapryanov.

He again denied rumors that the aircraft are second-hand and explained the reason why they are without identification marks when they arrive in our country, the information center of the Ministry of Defense reports.
