The police found eight firearms, including a Kalashnikov (AK-47) assault rifle, during the raid on the sheds at 46 Star Belovodski Pat Street in the capital's Boyana district yesterday. This was announced by the Sofia Directorate of Internal Affairs (SDVR), emphasizing that the actions of the officers were entirely within the law.
The weapons were stored in violation of the rules, the SDVR said. Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in the case, and the collected materials have already been reported to the Sofia District Prosecutor's Office.
The signals that led to the police intervention were two – the first was filed by a political party, and the second - by the owner of the property - Danail Papazov.
The situation escalated yesterday after the youth organization of the MRF held a meeting at the property. Later, a signal was filed on the 112 telephone, and after that - a second one from the owner, who requested that the power supply to the building be disconnected. This was done by the electricity distribution company for security purposes.
The police arrived at the address to ensure public order, the SDVR said.
The officers removed everyone present and detained three people for failing to comply with police orders. No auxiliary means or disproportionate physical force were used, the SDVR emphasizes.
“The police officers acted in accordance with their duties and powers under the Ministry of Internal Affairs Act“, states the official position of the SDVR, sent to the media.
