Cardiac arrest is the cause of death of American director and screenwriter David Lynch, who passed away at the age of 78, the TMZ portal reported, citing the death certificate.
„A document from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health lists the immediate cause of David's death as cardiac arrest due to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The document also mentions dehydration as a significant factor,“ the portal notes.
It also states that the director was cremated and his ashes were buried on January 22 at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery.
Lynch, best known as the creator of the mystical series "Twin Peaks" (1990-2017), died on January 16, four days before his 79th birthday. In 2024, he was diagnosed with emphysema.
Lynch directed 10 feature films during his long career. Many of them, such as The Elephant Man (1980), "Blue Velvet" (1986) and "Wild at Heart" (1990), have become classics of cinema. The director gained his greatest popularity after the release of the television series "Twin Peaks". Lynch is a winner of the Oscar for Outstanding Achievement in Cinematography, as well as the "Palme d'Or" from Cannes.
