21 points on the so-called boycott of chains.

On February 13th there would be a “boycott of chain stores“. That is, some people are calling on other people not to shop in large chain grocery stores.

This was commented on "Facebook" by Lyubomir Alamanov.

In an attempt to shed some light on the topic, here are 21 points:

1. This is not a spontaneous “civil“ initiative;

2. This is an initiative of failed politicians who are trying once again to lie to the people;

3. These politicians are not interested in people, but in the political dividends they can extract;

4. That is why they call for such an initiative, because they exploit people's fear and anger, but cleverly direct it in the wrong direction;

5. “Price“ by definition is the amount that someone is willing to pay for a good and service, and if there are such prices, then someone pays for the products;

6. Everyone has the right not to buy from a store because they don't like the prices;

7. Chain stores are only 1/3 of the total turnover, i.e. everyone is free to buy from the other 2/3 of the market;

8. Chain stores often have lower prices for many goods, due to the large turnover they generate ("state" price cuts in them will lead to even more bankruptcies of small stores, but these are apparently insignificant details for politicians);

9. The old song that Bulgarian stores have goods at higher prices than prices in Western Europe is again a political deception – no one is obliged to buy French food in Bulgaria, they can buy Bulgarian food in Bulgaria;

10. Or they can go to France, buy French food, bring it to Bulgaria, observing all quality procedures, and eat it here;

11. Chain stores were the ones who welcomed the lockdown during Covid and saved the market for food and basic household goods;

12. The chain stores were the ones that raised the salaries of the workers, paid full insurance and generally made the expression “cashier in …“ a byword for good pay for such a position;

13. The chain stores were the ones that helped an enormous number of Bulgarian producers to improve the quality of their production, to obtain the necessary certificates and to enter the European markets;

14. In most chain stores, Bulgarian products are over half (50%) of the offered production;

15. The failed politicians attack the chains because it is easy for them, and also because they do not want it to be known that they, as politicians, have done nothing meaningful for the development of the country;

16. They don't want to know that we should work to increase incomes, not to limit the prices of companies by the state;

17. They don't want to know that the strange Bulgarian practice of the richest landowners receiving the most subsidies, not small vegetable producers, still continues;

18. They don't want to know that they did nothing to increase the efficiency of the institutions so that food producers would be more secure and protected, not dependent on resellers, able to unite themselves and sell their production on more "farm" or similar markets;

19. It is easiest to return to communism - bread is cheap and for everyone, but there is nothing else, and sometimes there is no bread, and it is not very good quality;

20. With such initiatives they want to return us to the feudal economy, where everyone makes their own bread, milk, vegetables, meat, etc., while the normal world talks about Artificial Intelligence and colonizing Mars;

21. Then don't wonder why the children will want to run away again and not return to Bulgaria…

In general, everyone has the right to protest. Just think whether some failed politicians are not lying once again to ride on the fears and worries of the people again. Returning to communist feudalism will not help us at all. If you don't believe me, go to Belarus or Macedonia, see how people live there, and think again.

And finally: I don't work for any chain stores, I'm expressing my personal opinion.

Have a nice day!
