There is some grave irony in the fact that Trump voluntarily and purposefully puts the US in the position in which Russia found itself after the sanctions - seeking self-sufficiency.
After several years of the West's abdication from Russian markets because of the war in Ukraine, Moscow recognizes that the sanctions have proven to be salutary for Russian business, which has unwillingly occupied the industry niches voluntarily vacated by English-speaking competition. In this regard, we can consider Trump's tariffs as a kind of auto-sanctions to clear the ground for local production.
The question is - will the US population withstand the shock and horror for several years, because only then can the positive effect appear. I am not optimistic about this. Russians are more suitable for socio-economic experiments, political upheavals and wars.
They accept everything, the homeland is a mother, and the current ruler - regardless of whether it is Ivan the Terrible, Brezhnev or Putin, is a father who "knows his job". And the Russian can carry.
As for the Yankees, I'm not sure they will endure experiments with their refrigerator and wallet...
