A bombing signal will make us sweat in our pants. Alas, this is the very truth. The data shows that only 3% of the population can fit in the existing bomb shelters. Or, in other words - 165,201 people. But even that is not even that many. In practice, only 100 thousand will find safe shelter, because most shelters are in such a condition that a person would be better off hiding in their own basement. Or under a duvet. Or at their mothers'.
This is what Evelina Gecheva commented on for actualno.com.
If the enemy attacked by land, we would have better chances. Our roads are such that if trucks turn around every day, the same thing will probably happen to war machines.
If someone decides to attack us, they will reap quick success
But by air? There are no millions poured there, no potholes and U-turns. If someone decides to attack us, they will succeed, no matter how much it sounds like black humor to you.
However, the facts are only black, without a trace of humor. There are 231 shelters that can be quickly transformed into a form suitable for hiding. "In a short time", to quote punctually. These premises can accommodate 58,877 people.
Another 210 bomb shelters for 45,434 people are in poor technical condition and require major repairs to make them acceptable.
Finally, 163 shelters are completely unusable. That is, another 49,587 compatriots are out.
All this shows the total disinterest of the Bulgarian state in protecting its population. If it had cared, at least in the last three years, since Putin has been crushing Ukraine, something could have been done.
Deputy bodies are the state's first concern
Such a somewhat normal concern in our country exists only for the deputy bodies. They - what a surprise! - are also in first place in the event of an air attack. The shelter in the basement of the Party House will be renovated, but first it will be designed. It is not expensive - some 75,000 leva, but for the other sites not even 7.50 are planned. The authorities console us like a grandmother to her grandson that there is still a metro, a lot of underground garages, various ground floors of malls, tunnels, and also underpasses that can accommodate some population.
It is certainly so. But uncle Pesho from Dolno Uino has neither a mall, nor an underpass, nor a metro, and his garages are right in front of the house. That is, he only has his basement. In some houses this site has an impressive area. And if he has filled it with life-saving fluids and jars of the necessary proteins and carbohydrates, he will certainly survive.
Even after the deputies.
Therefore, dear compatriots, instead of putting your faith in our country or any foreign one, boldly dig dugouts and your own underground. Soon this may turn out to be an extremely good investment.
