Lawyer Petar Slavov to FACT: If there is a partial cancellation of the vote, we will have a new situation in parliament

You can talk about a final cancellation of the elections when there are really many glaring violations. The case in the Constitutional Court was consolidated because there were several complaints. But we see that many expert reports have been ordered and a serious study is being conducted. There have even been graphological expert reports - for the color of the pen, for the handwriting, to find out if they were manipulated. We saw the violations with our own eyes not in one, but in dozens of sections. If the vote is partially canceled, it may come to the point that another party enters parliament. We will see. I personally hope that there will be a ruling by the Constitutional Court soon. He announced this to Lili Marinkova in the studio “FACT“ and the show “Conversation“ lawyer Petar Slavov.

„I hope that the deputies in the National Assembly and all the institutions involved will engage in the election process. If there is a partial cancellation, we will have a new situation in the parliament. There are also proposals submitted for changes in the election process, and they have not even begun to be considered in a committee. I call on the deputies to take it seriously, because it is good that these changes are introduced before the next elections. And lately we often go to elections. According to the Venice Commission, the changes in the law should be in force for at least a year before they begin to be implemented“, added the guest.

According to lawyer Petar Slavov, it is good to have a direct election of people in the Supreme Bar Council. „The elections will be at the end of February, and now there are meetings of the individual structures that send delegates. Now there is an opportunity to vote for people you do not know when you send delegates. We have long proposed changing the electoral system so that voting is direct. The elections themselves can be held remotely or at the relevant bar association, and at the end they can be summed up. If you vote for 15 people, you already know them. 15 people are easy to remember and easy to recognize, not 150. Otherwise, voting is done in the dark, opaquely or against various promises“, the lawyer added.
