In Armenia, local police arrested nearly 200 people. These actions come against a backdrop of growing tension and public discontent against government decisions.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia, through reports of ARMENPRESS, confirmed that 196 protesters were detained. The reason for these arrests is a violation of Article 182 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Armenia. This law refers to failure to comply with lawful orders given by law enforcement officers, reports BTA.

The core of the unrest, dubbed “Tavush for the Motherland”, revolves around the government's controversial proposal to hand over four uninhabited villages to neighboring Azerbaijan. This plan caused considerable public discontent, leading to mass protests in the capital. Citizens blocked streets expressing their disapproval of a movement led by Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan. As the situation developed, the Armenian police response to the protests and the government's position on the territorial concession continued to be focal points of national and international attention.
