Poland: The accusations about Nord Stream are complete absurdity! Berlin pursues its own interests - 1

Polish President Andrzej Duda rejects the claim of former German foreign intelligence chief August Hanning, that he agreed with his Ukrainian colleague Volodymyr Zelensky to blow up the "Nord Stream" gas pipelines; and "Nordic Stream 2".

This is what he stated in an interview for "Republika".

"The statements of the former head of German foreign intelligence regarding the bombing of the gas pipelines "Nord Stream" and "Nord Stream 2" are absurd from a political point of view," Duda said.

Duda admits that "maybe we should look for some game, maybe together with the Russians".

It is no secret to anyone that the "Nord Stream 1" and "Nord Stream 2" are in favor of German-Russian interests. Let no one say that this is energy security for Europe - on the contrary, it is a danger. Anyone familiar with the gas energy market knows this very well, he said.

The Germans benefited because, bypassing the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, supplies would go from Russia directly to Germany, at attractive prices. It was a joint Russian-German project to the detriment of Central Europe, to the detriment of energy security, and as you can see - not only energy security, he insisted.

We remind you that in August Poland denied any involvement in blowing up the "Nord Stream".

Suggestions that Ukrainian authorities, supported by Poland, were behind the planning and execution of the sabotage attack on the "Nord Stream" in 2022, are groundless, said the aide to the Polish president.

"These are completely baseless insinuations," said Mieszko Pavlak, head of the international policy bureau in President Andrzej Duda's office, when asked about the Polsat broadcaster's claims.

Pavlak said Hanning was in office when Gerhard Schroeder was German chancellor and the Nord Stream 1 pipelines came up and "as head of intelligence he certainly played a shameful and important role in the investment.

German media reported that German prosecutors have identified a Ukrainian diving instructor as a key suspect in the sabotage of the "Nord Stream" and has issued a warrant for his arrest in Poland.

Poland received the warrant, but the suspect left the country because Germany did not include his name in a database of wanted persons, Polish prosecutors told "Reuters".

"To all initiators and patrons of "Nordic Stream" 1 and 2. The only thing you have to do today about this is to apologize and keep quiet," Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk wrote on the X platform.

Tusk did not directly respond to accusations of Polish involvement.

The Wall Street Journal reported that private businessmen funded the Nord Stream sabotage led by a top general in Ukraine. Ukraine denies any involvement.

The gas pipeline to Germany under the Baltic Sea was the main route for Russian gas flows before the Kremlin's invasion of Ukraine.
