Russian forces are advancing towards Ugledar. They have achieved tactical success about 30 km southwest of the city in Donetsk region.
This was announced by the British Ministry of Defense in its daily summary of the war in Ukraine.
Ugledar has long been a target for Moscow, as the settlement served as a foothold to stop Russian advances in the southern parts of Donetsk Oblast. Russia has made several attempts to capture the city since the beginning of the war, in which it suffered heavy losses and gained almost no territory.

In August 2024, Russian troops advanced east and west of Ugledar, capturing the village of Prechistivka and fighting for control of the village of Vodiane.
It is very likely that in the coming months Russia will continue to advance towards Ugledar and make another attempt to capture the city.
