German Chancellor Olaf Scholz wants to have a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin for the first time path for almost two years, writes Die Zeit, citing its sources.
The possibility of a telephone conversation between Scholz and Putin before the G20 meeting in Brazil in November is reportedly under consideration.
According to the publication, Germany has not yet made a request to organize the conversation.
The last telephone conversation between Scholz and Putin took place in December 2022
If their conversation goes through, Scholz will become the first leader of a country allied to Ukraine to speak directly to Putin since 2022.
