US: Right now, Gaza Strip is unlivable - 1

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said today that right now, Gaza Strip is "unlivable", Reuters reported, BTA reported.

Rubio made the statement during a press conference in the Dominican Republic. His visit to the Caribbean island nation is part of his tour of Central America.

The US Secretary of State supported that day with a post on the social platform "Ex" President Donald Trump's plan for the US to take control of Gaza, saying the Palestinian enclave must be liberated from the radical Islamist group "Hamas".

"You don't want people living next to unexploded explosive devices, do you?", Rubio asked rhetorically during a news conference today. However, he did not specify whether the Palestinians, who according to Trump's plan would be relocated from Gaza to other places, would be able to return to the strip, Reuters pointed out.

The war between Israel and "Hamas" broke out on October 7, 2023, when Palestinian Islamists attacked Israeli territory. According to Israeli figures, nearly 1,200 people were killed and about 250 hostages were taken captive in the Gaza Strip.

According to information provided by the Hamas Health Ministry, more than 47,000 Palestinians were killed in the subsequent Israeli offensive in the enclave. A six-week ceasefire between Israel and Hamas came into effect on January 19.
