The powerful sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, Kim Yo-chen, has criticized the military parade held in Seoul for Armed Forces Day this week, calling it "clowning", reports "Reuters".
In addition, she downplayed South Korea's military capabilities on display at the parade, as well as the participation of a US B-1B bomber pilot.
"Who could talk about the 'end of the regime' by displaying such a useless bulky weapon,'' Kim puzzled, referring to the unveiling of South Korea's powerful new Hyunmoo-5 missile capable of carrying an 8-tonne warhead , which was called "monstrous" by the South Korean media.
Military officials said the parade was partly intended to showcase South Korea's military might as a deterrent to North Korea, which often parades various weapons such as intercontinental ballistic missiles.
In a speech before the parade, South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol warned Pyongyang against using nuclear weapons and ridiculed its "illegal military cooperation" with Russia.
He declared that the day Pyongyang used nuclear weapons would be the end of his regime.
About 5,300 soldiers, 340 types of military equipment and aircraft took part in Tuesday's parade at an air base in Seoul. Another smaller parade took place in downtown Seoul, attracting thousands of spectators.
